Privacy Policy
for the FindMeTunnel app and this website
In short
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- Your trips, routes, collection, notes and photos are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
- Your location is used on your device only. Purchases are handled by Apple.
1. Who is responsible
FindMeTunnel is made by Denys Vasyliuk, Anna-Heinemann-Weg 33, 45131 Essen, Germany. Email: hi@moonage.me.
2. What stays on your device
The app saves the following on your iPhone, in its own storage:
- your trips: date, mode (car, train, walk, bike), distance, highest point, the places you passed and the route as GPS points;
- your collection: which places you discovered and which you marked as favourites;
- notes you write about a place and photos you add to them;
- your region, chosen once from your first location, and simple settings.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. The app has no server and no account. If your device backup (iCloud or computer) is turned on, iOS includes the app’s data in it; that backup is managed by Apple under your settings. Deleting the app deletes everything.
3. Location
With your permission, the app uses your location to show the places near you, to choose your region once, and to record a trip. While you record a trip, the app keeps using your location when the screen is locked, and iOS shows that it does. Location is processed on your device. To show the name of your town, the app asks Apple Maps for the place name of your position; this request is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We never receive your location. You can change or withdraw the permission at any time in the iOS Settings.
4. Apple Health
If you choose to check a workout, the app reads that workout and its route from Apple Health, with your permission, to find bridges and tunnels along it. This happens on your device. The app writes nothing to Health, and health data is never sent anywhere or used for advertising.
5. Photos
When you add a photo to a note, iOS shows its own picker, and the app receives only the photo you selected; it has no access to the rest of your library. The app has no camera of its own. Photos stay on your device.
6. What the app loads from the internet
Places, their terrain and the map regions are built into the app. To show more about a place, the app loads texts from Wikipedia and photos from Wikimedia Commons, and the map comes from Apple Maps. These requests contain the name of the place or the part of the map you look at, not your trips. Like any website, these services see your device’s IP address; Wikimedia and Apple handle it under their own privacy policies.
7. Purchases
FindMeTunnel Pro is a one-time in-app purchase through the App Store. Payment is processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. To check whether Pro is unlocked, the app asks the App Store on your device; we do not receive your Apple ID, name or payment details. Apple gives us only anonymous sales reports.
8. What the app does not do
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no analytics, no crash reporting, no contacts, no microphone. Nothing is sold or shared. In App Store terms: Data Not Collected.
9. This website
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). To deliver the pages and protect them from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the time of the request, the page and your browser. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare may process data outside the EU; this is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads its fonts from this domain.
10. Emails
If you write to hi@moonage.me, we use your email address and message only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once the matter is closed and no retention duty applies. The mailbox is provided by Apple (iCloud Mail).
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Since the app sends us no data, we usually hold nothing about you apart from emails you sent. Write to hi@moonage.me. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one in the German state where you live.
12. Changes
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page before that version is released and change the date at the top.
